A Beautiful Butterfly Garden
Butterflies are truly magical creatures. They have long since been considered mysterious members of the animal world. When one looks at paintings of gardens, one will notice there seems to be an abundant use of butterflies as a background object in many of these paintings. The reason for this is easy to explain: butterflies are beautiful insects and their addition to these paintings bring about a positive emotion when one looks at the painting. Now, of course, is the presence of a butterfly in the painting of a garden adds to the picture of a garden, then real butterflies would certainly add to the look of a real garden.
A butterfly garden is a living work of art. The presence of butterflies in a garden turn the garden into an amazing exhibit or rather, a living exhibit, that reflects the wonders of the natural world that sometimes, to many people, is an almost invisible world. A butterfly garden is a brilliant method of showing how the miraculous exists within the ordinary. In this case, a microcosm of nature is created within a carefully designed environment as butterflies are attracted to a garden. When the butterflies enjoy what they find in the garden (usually carefully placed nectar plants) the butterflies will have a tendency to stay.
Additionally, if you plan to cultivate a butterfly garden, you will want to consider planting larval host plants, so butterflies can reproduce and increase the size of their population. Some hosts you may want to consider include clovers (for blue butterflies), elm trees, parsley, grasses, and nettle.
A butterfly garden is not just a personal addition to a residence. Some butterfly gardens are gigantic and have become large exhibits that draw public audiences. Museums, parks and universities are only a small number of the public garden displays that pop up across the nation. And this popularity is a testament to the beauty of a butterfly garden. So, if one does not have a garden at one’s home, there is always the opportunity of one on display in your city. Not a bad deal.
